Livingston M.F. Wong MD

Dr. Livingston Wong started his private practice in 1966 which later became the group practice of Surgical Associates, Inc.  Initially, Dr. Wong performed general surgery procedures. After training and collaboration with the pioneers of transplant surgery, Dr. Wong started Hawaii’s transplant program and performed the first kidney and first bone marrow transplants in Hawaii.  After years of innovation and performing many surgeries, Dr. Wong is now retired from clinical practice and maintains an essential role at Surgical Associates, Inc. as a consultant for medical and administrative issues.

Dr. Fong-Liang Fan joined Dr. Livingston Wong in 1978 and has been an active participant in the growth of the group and the local transplant program.  Trained in general surgery and transplant surgery, Dr. Fan has performed many surgeries and continues his busy practice mainly at the Queen’s Medical Center.  Outside of Surgical Associates, Inc., Dr. Fan was an integral part of the formation of  the Tzu Chi charitable medical clinic here in Hawaii and continues to be involved in many humanitarian efforts.

Whitney M.L. Limm MD

Dr. Whitney Limm joined Surgical Associates, Inc in 1991, and is also currently the Vice President of Clinical Integration  at the Queens Medical Center. Dr. Limm was previously the Medical Director of Surgical Services at Queens Medical Center. He recently completed his terms as the Chief of General Surgery at Queens Medical Center and the President of the Hawaii Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.  Aside from surgery and transplants, Dr. Limm also performs many general surgery procedures. His clinical interests are in endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal), hernia, breast, gastrointestinal, and vascular access surgery.  Dr. Limm is a member of the HMSA Board of Directors, and an Associate Professor of Surgery for the University of Hawaii.  He is active in the teaching of medical students and residents and is consistently featured in Honolulu Magazine’s list of Best Doctors. 

Alan H.S. Cheung MD

Dr. Alan Cheung is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. He joined Surgical Associates, Inc. in 1992 and is currently the Director of the Transplant Center at Queen’s Medical Center.  Dr. Cheung performed the first pancreas transplant in Hawaii in 1993. He continues to perform many organ transplants and general surgery procedures mainly at the Queen’s Medical Center and Castle Medical Center.  He was the former Chief of Surgery and Chief Surgical Officer for Hawaii Medical Center – East. He is a Professor of Surgery for the University of Hawaii School of Medicine.  Along with his busy surgical and transplant practice, Dr. Cheung is also the Vice-President of Medical Affairs at Castle Medical Center.  Dr. Cheung has consistently been recognized in Honolulu Magazine’s Best Doctors in Hawaii.

Linda L. Wong MD

Dr. Linda Wong returned to Hawaii in 1993 and joined Surgical Associates, Inc. to start the liver transplant program and performed the first liver transplant in that year.  Since then, more than 100 liver transplants have been performed.  In addition to liver transplants, Dr. Wong also specializes in hepatobiliary surgery, kidney transplants and also performs many complex general surgery procedures.  She is currently a Professor of Surgery for the University of Hawaii. In addition, Dr. Wong is involved in many research projects, writing of scientific papers and teaching at the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii.  Dr. Wong is also consistently named to the list of Best Doctors by the Honolulu Magazine. 

Hiroji Noguchi MD

Dr. Hiroji Noguchi joined Surgical Associates, Inc. in 1997 and performs surgery mainly at the Castle Medical Center and Queen’s Medical Center.  He is trained in transplant surgery as well as general surgery.  Dr. Noguchi is active in the Legacy of Life  Hawaii Medical Advisory Board and various committees at our practicing medical centers.  He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Windward Surgery Center and the Chief of Surgery at Castle Medical Center Being born and raised in Japan, Dr. Noguchi is fluent in the Japanese language.

Makoto Ogihara MD

Dr. Makoto Ogihara joined Surgical Associates in July 2007 after the completion of his fellowship in transplant surgery at Stanford University Medical Center.  In addition to transplant surgery, Dr. Ogihara also performs general surgery procedures at both the Queen’s Medical Center and Castle Medical Center.  Having trained at the University of Hawaii, Dr. Ogihara is familiar with practicing medicine in the islands and many of the local hospitals.  Born and raised in Japan, Dr. Ogihara is fluent in the Japanese language.

Jon S. (Kai) Yamaguchi MD

Dr. Yamaguchi joined Surgical Associates in 2013. Prior to joining the group, he practiced in Vermont as the Chief of the Division of Transplantation at Fletcher Allen Healthcare/University of Vermont.  Dr. Yamaguchi also serves in the United States Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel and has completed two deployments, most recently in 2013.  Dr. Yamaguchi is an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Hawaii.  In addition to transplantation, he has a specialty interest in hepatobiliary surgery including laparoscopic liver surgery.

Jacqueline I. Lee, MD

Dr. Jacqueline Lee joined Surgical Associates in July 2017 following her transplant surgery fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. After graduating from Stony Brook University School of Medicine, Dr. Lee completed a general surgery residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.  She also completed a clinical research fellowship in GI/Endocrine surgery in Dallas. Dr. Lee is skilled in all aspects of general surgery and kidney and liver transplants, with particular clinical interest in breast, GI, endocrine, and trauma surgeries. 

 

Dr. Lee has a longstanding interest in resident and medical student education, as well as a strong interest in outcomes research, with emphasis on quality improvement and patient safety.

Lung-Yi (Felix) Lee, MD

Dr. Felix Lee joined Surgical Associates in September 2019 after finishing his transplant surgery fellowship at Stanford University. Following his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Lee did his general surgery training at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, WI. Dr. Lee also completed a research fellowship in transplant surgery at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Lee performs all general and transplant surgical procedures, and he has a strong interest in medical education and surgical research. Dr. Lee is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
